LOGO OF ICPCAt the heart are the Star of David and the cross that expresses our ecumenicity. The shield of the police officer is surrounded by the wreath of peace topped by the rising sun of hope on the star badge of sheriffs’ deputies against the blue field of truth surrounded by the gold circle of unity of our chaplain family.
Basically, it is shaped like the five-pointed star of the early peace officer made famous by the “Texas Rangers”. Superimposed upon this is the more modern shield, the badge of office for those who have sworn to “shield” the public from those who would violate the law. Thus, we have both of the most common shapes of the badges of law enforcement officers in our nation and many others around the world. Both of these badges are in wide use today.
Superimposed on the shield are the symbols of our Judean-Christian faith, that of the six-pointed Star of David and the Cross of Christ. A laurel wreath, the symbol of honor, which distinguishes the law enforcement profession, surrounds the shield. Over the shield (and our religious symbols) is a shining sun signifying God’s Word “which is for us a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our pathway.”
Thus, we have symbols of law enforcement and symbols of our faith inextricably woven together and superimposed to symbolize our office as Police Chaplains
